The perfect daddy-daughter campout had to start with a Frappaccino from Starbucks (non-coffee of course).
Once we got to the camping area, we found out that they were completely booked and even had several camping in their overflow area (basically a parking lot). The park ranger called a few other camping areas and found that all of them were completely full. Not sure what was going on that weekend.
So, we decided if we couldn't go to the campground, we would bring the campground to us. We picked up a little fire pit and headed home to set up camp.

We built a fire, set up our tent, and started the dutch oven cooking. On the menu was dutch oven pizza with dough that Sis and I made from scratch. We cooked the hawaiian pizza in the dutch oven and the cheese pesto pizza in the regular old boring oven. They both turned out to be delicious...

We had a bit of left over dough so we made some rolls.

After dinner, a few s'mores and we were ready for bed.

Believe it or not, I was cold all night even in a sleeping bag (hey, it gets cold in the desert). The next morning, we woke up to find that we had set up our tent in the middle of a desert oasis.

It was pretty nippy in the morning so we stoked up the fire and heated up some breakfast burritos.

In the end, it turned out even better than if we had been able to stay in the campground. Another successful daddy-daughter campout and we are already looking forward to next year.

This looks so fun! You guys are the coolest parents ever! Love ya!
So fun!! I love it!
That is like the cutest thing ever! What an awesome Dad. My Dad had SIX daughters, no boys, so we definitely had our share of camping and outdoors, which I LOVED!
Courtney, you're a lucky girl ;)
Camping out in the backyard is way better than a campground anyway. And that pizza looks so so good. You have got to be the world's best cook!!!
That is so awesome! You are a great day, Courtney is a lucky girl!
I really love you Eric. I hope you don't take this the wrong way but there really is a change in you. I don't know maybe I'm just weird but which ever (maybe both) I am so grateful I get to be a part of it and see the miracles you preform. Thanks for ... well I don't really know quite what for but thank you over and over again. I love you. All of you.
Well, it could be that I'm 5 days post partum, or it could be the sappy country music on your blog, or it could my thoughts about my new little daughter having super fun daddy-daughter campouts with Ryan...whatever the reason, I'm bawling! That is the sweetest post ever! And just when I thought I couldn't love your family anymore!
That is so cute. I can't wait for Noah to be able to take Sadie on Daddy daughter campouts. That was one of my favorite things to do with my dad since I was the only girl also.
So excited to talk to you guys about the ol trek! You made it! Let's get our families together again soon!
